Tube Mill
In 2001, Excel began commercial production of Pipes and Tubes, primarily to ensure a stable supply for our own Scaffolding and Formwork manufacturing Division.
We produce a wide variety of steel tubes and pipes, compliant with international standards such as ASTM, BS, JIS, SAE, AISI, and DIN. We at Excel have built a solid local and regional reputation based on quality engineering, first class manufacturing, and procurement of premium raw material from integrated steel plants worldwide. Our High Speed Pipe manufacturing processes circular, square and rectangular steel tubes and pipes in sync with modern technology.
The manufacture of Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) Pipes / Tube is performed automatically as Hot Rolled Steel Coils are uncoiled, levelled and slit into strips. They are then fed into the Forming Mill for pipe forming and shaping, and finally welded by the High Frequency Induction welder. The welded points retain the same strength as of the base metal itself. The formed pipe is air and water cooled, which is completed by accurate sizing, cutting, and straightening.

Typical ERW Pipe/Tube Manufacturing Process:
Our manufacturing process generally involves the following stages in a step by step procedure.
Slitting:
Coils are slit to predetermined widths for each and every size of pipes/tubes.
Uncoiling, End Shearing And Welding:
The slit coil is uncoiled at the entry of the ERW mill. The ends are sheared and welded one after another, resulting in a single endless strip.
Round Forming:
The slit coils are initially formed into U shape. They are then formed into a cylindrical shape with open edges which utilise a series of forming rolls.
Welding:
The open edges are heated to the forging temperature utilising a high-frequency, low-voltage, high current. They are press welded by forge rolls which ensures a perfect, strong weld without utilising any filler materials.
Debeading:
The top and inside of the weld flash is trimmed using carbide tools.
Seam Annealing:
The parts that are hot, or that have been welded, are cooled and normalised in an air cooling bed.
Sizing:
After water quenching, the desired outside diameter is produced by a slight reduction that is applied to the pipes. This process utilises sizing rolls.
Cutting:
The pipes are then cut to length by a flying cut off disc/saw cutter.
End Facing:
The pipes ends require finishing. This process is referred to as end facing.
This production process is steady, continuous, and automatic.

We at EXCEL operate a full-fledged Coil Service Centre. The Coil Service Centre is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art automatic Slitting & Cut-to-Length Line. The steel coil service centre processes steel coils into skelp (baby) coils and sheets / plates by slitting or shearing them to customer requested sizes. EXCEL has led the way in developing Coil Service tailored solutions to meet with customers' requirements. We offer access to our abundant storage and handling facility for customers to store their raw materials and finished products.
